E-math is a core subject for O-Level
Is your child struggling with E-math? They might be making certain mistakes that other students are also making.
These mistakes can easily be avoided with some extra attention and practice. In this article, we’ll go through some of the most common E-math mistakes and provide you and your child with tips on how to avoid them.
So let’s dive in and tackle those E-math mistakes once and for all!
E-math mistake #1: Calculation errors
E-Math involves a lot of calculations, and students may make mistakes in simple arithmetic such as adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing, which can affect the overall answer.
“But my child uses the calculator, how can they have calculation errors??”
-Common thought by parents

You would be surprised!
From our teaching experience, we have seen students keying in the wrong numbers onto the calculators or writing the wrong numbers down.
This happens when students are rushing through their papers or they are anxious.

The best way to prevent this from happening is to advise your child to slow down and double-check if all the numbers they wrote are correct.
E-math mistake #2: Incomplete working
E-Math requires students to show their work, and not doing so or skipping steps may result in lost marks even if the final answer is correct.
This can happen when your child is rushing their work and may have key calculations onto their calculators but they did not write on their paper.
Resulting in losing important marks.

Some topics that require ALL workings to be shown include trigonometry and it also requires labelling.
E-math mistake #3: Not checking their work
It is a well-known knowledge that students who don’t check their work may miss mistakes or errors they made earlier in the problem-solving process.
If your child is still rushing through their paper and lies on their table once they are done, it might be time to change that habit.
Not checking their work means there might be unknown careless mistakes and it can result in marks being lost.
Especially when they have already put in all their hard work studying for their paper.
