exam revision blog intro banner

Exam revision during the holidays is important, but what many parents do not know is that post-holiday revision is also very important.

Especially with WA2 happening soon. In fact, the post-holiday period marks a critical juncture in the journey of exam revision, demanding a strategic approach to ensure that every moment counts.

That is why we have a dedicated guide for post-holiday exam revision, which includes strategies designed to empower your child with the tools and insights needed to navigate the path toward success in their upcoming WA2.

Organize and prioritize

Your child should review their study materials and notes from the holiday revision. Check if they have missed out anything.

Did they manage to complete their revision and summary notes? Are there any subjects that they have not covered?

For example, they might have a tough Math topic that requires more practice but due to the short holiday period, they can’t.

When is your child’s first paper and last paper? Which subject is the most complex for them?

They can revise the most complex subjects first so that they have more time.

Once your child has sorted all these questions out, they can rank which subject and topic they should continue their revision on.

Continue to practice regularly

You probably know that this point is obvious. But how often does your child keep their revision consistent?

They might be working hard for a couple of weeks and they will start slowing down or even stopping their revision.

That’s why it is important that your child keeps their revision consistent and follows their revision schedule.

When your child is nearing their End-of-Year exams, they should be doing timed exam practices to simulate exam conditions and improve time management.

This gives your child a rough idea of how much faster they should be going or if they are too fast, they should slow down to avoid careless mistakes

Review & continue to work on weak areas

Did your child manage to overcome and understand the topics that they were struggling with? During the holidays, they should be revising those challenging topics and getting them right.

If they still have issues understanding, they can ask their teachers for additional help since they are back in school.

Your child can also show their work and seek feedback from their teachers to see if they are heading in the right direction (e.g. compo writing)

Creating a checklist helps your child whether they truly understand and solve the challenging questions.

Final review

If your child has not finished making their summary notes, they should continue post-holiday.

If they are already done, they can review it every weekend to continue refreshing their mind.
