Goal setting step #2: Understand the purpose of the goal
Your child should understand why setting this goal is important and what they hope to achieve by reaching it.
During planning, their goal should be aligned with their personal values and interests, and it should be something that they are motivated to pursue.
For example, the goal is to have AL1 for their PSLE math exams so that it can help them go to their dream secondary school
Goal setting step #3: Develop an action plan
Once the goal is identified, your child should develop a clear action plan for achieving it.
This should include specific steps or milestones that need to be completed, along with a timeline for each step.
For example, if your child has a goal like this:
Then their action plan should be:

Step 2: Create a daily study schedule, setting aside at least 30 minutes each day for English revision
Step 3: Develop a list of learning materials and resources to use, such as assessment books that focus on the specific problem areas
Step 4: Set achievable goals for each week or month, such as learning 20 new vocabulary words, writing a paragraph or essay.
Step 5: Seek feedback from their English teachers or tutors to identify areas that need improvement and track progress.
Step 6: Your child can stay motivated by finding fun and engaging ways to practice English, such as watching English-language TV shows or movies or reading articles that interest them.
