The school holidays are here again!
As your child is approaching the school holidays, it is the perfect time for them to catch up on their subjects!
It is normal for your child to relax during the holidays but it is also important for them to continue having a revision routine so that when school starts, they have the momentum to revise and do their homework.
Having a routine will also prevent your child from forgetting what they have learnt the past few months.

Practice Math & track progress
As you know, Math requires practice in order for your child to familiarize themselves with the various questions.
Instead of asking your child to do new practices or assessment books, they can redo the questions they have gotten wrong in their past school test papers or worksheets.
Doing practice is one thing, but your child also needs to set goals and track their progress and see if there is any improvement made.
When your child sets a goal, they feel more motivated to improve and revise. Make sure the goal is attainable during the school holidays so that they can manage their time and revision for other subjects.
For example, your child can aim to improve 2 topics that they are struggling with this march school holidays. they can do so by redoing past papers and seeking help from teachers, friends and YouTube math explanations if they are still unclear.
So, this upcoming school holiday, sit down with your child and set math goals and plan the revision schedule together!
Use real-world examples to teach math
Show your child that math can be applicable to their daily lives too!
This would allow them to find math meaningful and would not have a bad mindset towards it.
For example, if you want to test your child on the percentage topic, you can ask your child how much is the discount or how much savings you had in this shopping trip as compared to the last shopping trip.
Find a tutor to start their math improvement journey
If your child:
- Has been struggling with their math since the start of the year
- Needs guided revision
- Needs someone to teach them the topics they are struggling with as the school teacher is unable to help
