As the school holiday arrives, it is the perfect time to reflect on the past term and gear up for the upcoming PSLE.

In our school holiday edition guide, we will explore key strategies to prepare for the PSLE, ensuring your child maximizes their potential and achieves their goals.

But how??

Reflection and planning.

Your child can make the most of this school holiday by reflecting on the past term and setting a solid foundation for PSLE success!

Why is it important?

Most students would jump straight into revision without planning. Which can make them miss out on important topics and subjects that they are lacking.

Taking time out to reflect, gives you and your child a clearer picture on what are the areas your child needs to improve on.

This will then lead them to better planning on what topics and subjects your child should focus on during the holiday and the next term.

This is especially important if they’re having their PSLE this year!

How to reflect?

You and your child can start off by looking through the past test results and ask yourselves these questions:

  • Did it meet your expectations?
  • What did your child do that gave them this good/bad result?
  • What feedback did teachers give?
  • Which topic/subject needs improvement AND can be done within the June holiday?
  • Which topic/subject needs improvement that needs a longer time? Usually, subjects that are generally weaker in
  • Which topic/subject did your child excel in? So that they do not need to put too much focus on it

Once you answer these questions, you and your child will have a clearer idea of where they stand and how much time they have left to improve before PSLE.

This also helps in setting goals and creating a study timetable.

How to set goals for the next term?

The first step to goal setting is to identify a specific goal. The goal should be S.M.A.R.T.

S.M.A.R.T goals are goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

S.M.A.R.T goals help your child break down larger goals into smaller, more manageable steps and achieve a sense of progress and achievement along the way.
